Corrigendum: Strengthening the mother-tongue foundation in mother tongue-based bilingual education: Evidence from Grade 1 Sepedi reading classrooms

In the published article, Strengthening the mother-tongue foundation in mother tongue-based bilingual education: Evidence from Grade 1 Sepedi reading classrooms, there was an error in the Acknowledgements section regarding the thesis submission date. The thesis submission year was incorrectly stated as 2026. The correct year is 2025. The doctorate was conferred in 2026.

In the Acknowledgements section, the first paragraph has been updated.

Zondi’s doctoral thesis titled ‘Factors Influencing Grade 1 Sepedi-Speaking Learners’ Reading Outcomes in Limpopo’, submitted to the Department of Early Childhood Education, Faculty of Education, University of Pretoria, in 2026. The thesis was supervised by Joyce West and Keshni Bipath. The supervisors were not involved in the preparation of this article and were not listed as co-authors. Portions of the thesis have been revised, updated and adapted for publication as a journal article.
